RIDEAU CANAL (summer) Built in 1826-1832, Lieutenant Colonel John By designed and supervised construction. Also known as the Rideau Waterway that connects the city of Ottawa, Ontario to the city of Kingston, Ontario. It is 202 km (125 miles) long. It received a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation in 2007. It is the oldest continuously operated canal system in North America.
