PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS Ottawas parliament officially opened on June 6, 1866 on Wellington Street. This drawing is a depiction of the new structure that was built to replace the original building that was destroyed by fire in 1916. This glorious Gothic Revival style structure sits on a hill overlooking the Ottawa River. It was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1976.
