EARNSCLIFFE Built in 1855, this Victorian manor was the home of Sir John A. Macdonald Canadas first Prime Minister from 1883-1891. Located on a cliff overlooking the Ottawa River, the house has been used as the residence of the British High Commissioner to Canada since 1930. It is built out of local limestone and is located at 140 Sussex Drive. Earnscliffe was designated as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1960.
