Description
CONFERENCE CENTRE Built as Ottawas Union Railway Station in 1912, the buildings Beaux-Arts classical style was typical of early 20th century railway stations. It was the citys central train station until the 1960s. It has since been used as a government conference centre. In 1989 it was classified as a Federal Heritage Building because of its historical associations and architecture. Located at 2 Rideau Street at the intersection of Wellington Street and the Rideau Canal; across from the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel.
